WHY EDUCIFLY

Why IB Students Worldwide Choose Educifly for Physics

Why IB Students Worldwide Choose
Educifly for Physics

Why IB Students Worldwide Choose Educifly for Physics

Most online tutors teach general physics. IB Physics is its own discipline — with command terms, assessment objectives, a Data Booklet, a 10-hour Internal Assessment, and a question style that rewards precision over volume.

1

Specialists, not generalists

Every Educifly Physics tutor is trained on the IBDP Physics First Assessment 2025 syllabus. They teach IB question patterns, IB command-term language, and IB mark schemes — week in, week out.

2

Mark scheme over textbook

We teach you to read the question the way the IB examiner wrote it. The difference between Describe, Explain, Deduce, Determine and Evaluate is the difference between a 5 and a 7. We drill it until it's automatic.

3

Paper 1B & IA are core, not extra

Paper 1B (Data Analysis) and the Physics IA are the two parts of the new syllabus where students lose the most marks — and the two areas school teaching covers least. We make both a permanent part of your weekly plan.

4

Visual, simulation-led teaching

Abstract topics — fields, SHM, the photoelectric effect, capacitor discharge, wave interference — are taught using PhET, Falstad, Algodoo, Logger Pro, and Desmos. You see the physics happen before you write a line of working.

5

Hand-matched, not auto-assigned

You don't get whoever is free. We match by level (HL/SL/MYP), goal (IA, Paper 1B, mocks, full-course coaching), time zone, and learning style. If the fit isn't right, we re-match — no friction, no charge.

6

Transparent, outcome-focused

Every student gets a tracked study plan, post-session notes, and progress check-ins. You'll see what was covered, what's next, and how it maps to your target grade.

THE 3 HIDDEN MARK LOSSES

The Real Reason You're Stuck at a 5 and How We Move You to a 7

The Real Reason You're Stuck at a 5 and How We Move You to a 7

The Real Reason You're Stuck at a 5 and How We Move You to a 7

Most students who come to us understand the physics. The marks they're losing are not in the content — they're in the technique. We focus on the three gaps that quietly cost the highest grades.

GAP 01

Command Terms: the language of the mark scheme

Command terms aren't synonyms. They are precise instructions, and using the wrong response style costs marks even when the physics is right.

  • Describe state observable features, no reasoning required

  • Explain give a reason linked to a physical principle

  • Deduce reach a conclusion using previously stated information

  • Determine arrive at an answer through working

  • Evaluate weigh evidence and offer a justified judgement

Paper 2 marks jump within 4–6 sessions

GAP 02

Paper 1B Data Analysis & graph skills

Paper 1B is the most distinct part of the post-2023 IB Physics syllabus. It rewards students who can read data with precision — not just recall physics.

  • Linearise non-linear relationships to find a constant from a gradient

  • Read and propagate uncertainties correctly through calculations

  • Interpret error bars, max/min gradients, area under a curve

  • Use Logger Pro confidently for fitting and residual analysis

Students treat 1B as their easiest paper by exam day

GAP 03

Using the Data Booklet strategically

Using the Data Booklet strategically

The Data Booklet is not a panic flip-through. It's a tool. We teach a repeatable three-step workflow that saves 4–6 minutes per paper.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

We Work Best with Students Who Want IB-Specific Coaching

Students with concept gaps

You understand it in class, then blank in a test. We diagnose in session one, re-explain a different way, and drill until it sticks. Most common: fields, SHM, quantum physics.

Students struggling with numericals

You know the theory but lose marks in calculations. We teach a structured 4-step problem method for every numerical question type — reading, equation selection, working, sanity check.

High achievers chasing a 7

You're already at a 5 or 6. The gap is precise habits — command-term phrasing, Paper 1B technique, sig figs, Data Booklet workflow. We focus on what's quietly costing the top grade band.

Students preparing for mocks or finals

Past-paper walkthroughs, timed Paper 1B sessions, mark-scheme analysis after every question. Maximum mark recovery in minimum time.

Students moving from MYP to DP

The jump from MYP Science to DP Physics surprises most students. We start with vectors, uncertainty, and data analysis — and introduce the IA mindset early.

Parents looking for reliable HL support

Session plans shared in advance. Progress tracked against the IB syllabus. Visibility for you, accountability for your child.

Faq

FAQ –
Online IB Physics Tutor (HL & SL)

What is an online IB Physics tutor?

An online IB Physics tutor is a subject specialist who teaches the IB Physics syllabus — MYP, SL or HL — through 1-on-1 video lessons. A qualified IB Physics tutor knows the current First Assessment 2025 syllabus, the command terms used by IB examiners, the Data Booklet, and the assessment criteria for Paper 1A, Paper 1B, Paper 2, and the Internal Assessment.

How long does it take to improve my IB Physics grade?

Most students see a measurable improvement within 6–8 weeks of consistent weekly tutoring. Moving from a 4 to a 6 typically takes around 3 months. Moving from a 6 to a 7 — where the work is mostly technique and Paper 1B — often takes 6–8 weeks of focused coaching.

How does an online tutor help with Paper 1B Data Analysis?

Paper 1B is a data-based paper introduced in the post-2023 IB Physics syllabus. It rewards students who can linearise relationships, propagate uncertainties, and read information from gradients and areas. We run dedicated Paper 1B drills using past-paper datasets and Logger Pro, until students can confidently extract a constant from a graph in under six minutes.

Can a tutor help with my IB Physics Internal Assessment?

Yes. Educifly's IB Physics IA tutors guide students through research-question selection, methodology and variable control, data collection and analysis, and the Conclusion and Evaluation criteria. Tutors do not write your IA — they coach you to produce a stronger one yourself, in line with IB academic-honesty rules.

Why do command terms matter so much in IB Physics?

IB command terms (Describe, Explain, Deduce, Determine, Evaluate, State, Outline, Suggest) have precise mark-scheme meanings. Writing a perfect explanation in response to Deduce will lose marks, because Deduce requires you to link your answer to previously given information. Drilling command terms is often the single fastest path to a one-grade jump.

Do you teach the new IB Physics syllabus (First Assessment 2025)?

Yes. Our tutors and resources are fully aligned to the current IB Physics syllabus — Themes A–E structure, the Paper 1A/1B/2 format, and the updated IA framework. There are no references to Paper 3 anywhere in our materials (it was removed under First Assessment 2025).

Is IB Physics HL really harder than SL?

Yes. HL adds five major content extensions — rigid body mechanics, thermodynamics, wave optics, electromagnetic induction and capacitors, and modern quantum physics. HL is examined over more total time than SL and requires deeper mathematical handling. Our HL pathway is designed specifically around these extensions.

How does the first session work?

The first session is a free 60-minute trial. Before the call, share which topics feel hardest and any upcoming tests. Bring a recent test or past paper if you have one. The tutor runs a short diagnostic and finishes by sharing a personalised plan — there is no pressure to continue.

What if the tutor isn't a good fit?

Tell us. We'll re-match, usually within 24 hours, with no charge. The free trial exists specifically so fit is established before any commitment.

How quickly can I be matched with a tutor?

Most students are matched with an IB Physics tutor within 24–48 hours of submitting a request, including weekend requests. Urgent exam-prep cases can usually be matched same-day.
